ABSTRACT:
Due to a little bug in Terminate 4.0, the file TERMINAT.NOD located in the
Terminate directory, is emptied when you add a 21st entry. So came TNOD2ASC.
It is an utility which translate the file TERMINAT.NOD into plain ASCII.
This ASCII file can then be edited, sorted, seldom used entries deleted...
ASC2TNOD will convert the ASCII file back into TERMINAT.NOD format.
USAGE:
You can put those two programs anywhere in your path or in the Terminate
directory. It doesn't matter. But you must be in the directory where
TERMINAT.NOD resides before running TNOD2ASC as it won't search for it. If
TERMINAT.NOD is not found, you'll get an error. When your last called list
is about to reach 20 entries, it's time to run it. TERMINAT.NOD is
automatically backuped to TERMINAT.NO$ and then converted to TERNOD.ASC, an
editable ASCII file of the following format:
1 2 3 4 5
12345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789
System Name BBS 1:2345/6789.12
AIRCRASH_BUR 1:115/327.0
You have 30 characters available for the system name. Followed by two spaces.
The node number begin at column 33. All fields of the node number must be
completed including the point number (be sure it is ".0" for the nodes or
you'll get an error):
AIRCRASH_BUR 1:115/327 _is unacceptable_
AIRCRASH_BUR 1:115/327.0 _is the correct form_
The line is terminated with a CRFL. Don't leave blank lines atop the file
as the back converter stops at the first blank line, or after 20 entries
whichever occurs first.
When you're finished editing TERNOD.ASC, convert it back to TERMINAT.NOD using
ASC2TNOD. If nothing goes wrong, TERMINAT.NOD will be 780 bytes long.
REMARKS:
I created these programs for my own use and I never had problems using them
yet. But according to Murphy's law, if something can go wrong, it will. So
please report any problem to me for I can fix'em.
Any Terminate user is allowed to use this package free of any charges, but
if you find it useful, let me know.
You may distribute this package freely and you're encouraged to do so as long
as the archive name remains unchanged.
For any comment, I can be reached in the Terminate FIDO Area, or at 1:240/415
